4-H

4-H

Application

The 4-H Grant Program offers an opportunity for NCSBA to work closely with our extension agencies to provide beekeeping training to the local youth. This program offers a potential source of young, well trained North Carolina beekeepers that will infuse our local clubs with enthusiasm and new perspectives. If you are a 4-H leader, member or parent and are interested in sharing aspects of beekeeping with the local 4-H, this program is for you. NCSBA is very interested in helping others establish 4-H beekeeping programs and is offering grants of up to $500 for qualifying programs. These programs may be as simple as a 1 or 2 day introduction to beekeeping up to creating a beekeeping club that meets monthly throughout the year.

It’s easy to apply. Once you have formulated a program, complete the application provided. The 4-H Liaison will then contact you for further discussion of your project. Once approved, you will receive a check for the requested amount.

At the completion of your project you may be asked to evaluate your programs effectiveness. This information will be used to make improvements to other projects requesting funding.

Submit all inquires to the Liaison for Cooperative Extension Services.

Previous Projects

  • Franklin County Beekeepers Association is working jointly with their local 4-H program. They will offer a two day bee school which involves one day of classroom education and activities and one day in an actual apiary. 2019
  • Union County Beekeepers and the NCSBA donated money for beekeeping equipment and foundation colonies to the Hidden Meadows 4H. Hidden Meadows 4H now maintains a teaching apiary and donates colonies to members of the 4H. 2018
