To help Chapters find Speakers for their monthly meetings, the NCSBA has created a list of people that are willing to give presentations by either Zoom (video-conferencing) or in-person (pending Covid-19 virus restrictions and recommendations). The initial requests for names and titles were sent out to the NCSBA members and Chapters in June-July 2020. Responses were compiled into the first version of the “Speakers List”. The list will be updated periodically as other Speakers come forward. Success of this project will depend on how many Speakers join in the effort and if the information is kept updated by the Speaker.
Being on the list is not necessarily an NCSBA endorsement of the Speaker. When contacting the Speaker, the Chapter can ask for a reference or the name of a Chapter that has heard the presentation. The Chapter should determine if the Speaker charges for gas or other expenses, how far they are willing to drive, the length of the presentation, and other relevant information. Compiling and updating details like that are beyond the scope of the project.
NOTE: Remember that Dr. David Tarpy (NCSU Apiculture Sciences professor) and his team have a wide range of high-quality presentations available. Contact information is in the first two entries on the “Speakers List”. Some can be presented in real-time (via Zoom or in-person). Others are recorded and can be streamed during an in-person or Zoom meeting.
Please help the NCSBA create an extensive list with many topics. If you would like to be added to the “Speakers List”, email the following information to presentations@ncbeekeepers.org. It will remain the responsibility of the Speaker to provide updates later or ask to be removed from the list.
- Speaker’s name
- Presentation topic or title (you may list up to 10)
- Contact information (email address and/or phone number)
- Local Chapter
- Format (by Zoom, in-person, or both)
- Reference (optional for list; Chapter may ask for it)
- Additional information (optional)
