The Golden Achievement Program (GAP) is intended to be special recognition of the efforts of a chapter and its members to advance the practice, science, and community of beekeeping throughout the year. Sharing the accomplishments of our chapters is the key to strengthening our NCSBA organization.
2023 GAP Chapter of the Year!
Great news for GAP in 2023!
Congratulations to Beekeepers of Chowan County as the GAP Chapters of the Year for 2023!
Each year one NCSBA Chapter is awarded the title of “Golden Achievement Chapter of the Year” and receives a $700 grant from the NCSBA to fund a service project of the Chapter’s choosing. This distinction recognizes NCSBA chapters that have made significant accomplishments in support of North Carolina beekeeping over the past year. Points are given for various chapter activities and accomplishments. Chapters should submit their accomplishments from the past year to the GAP Committee for review by the Spring Conference of each year. A copy of the application is available below.
The Chapter of the Year is awarded prizes consisting of a banner and framed certificate, gift certificates from our sponsors for bee equipment, donated beekeeping items, and $700 in grant funds for an approved project. The winning chapter will also have a position on the GAP committee.
Once you receive GAP Chapter of the Year, you are ineligible to participate for 3 years. Unfortunately, Chapters who received NCSBA GAP Chapter of the Year for 2023 (Beekeepers of Chowan County), and 2021 (Wilson County Beekeepers and Five County Beekeepers Association) are not eligible to participate in the 2024 Chapter of the Year competition for accomplishments in 2023.
Great news for GAP in 2023!
All Chapters who submit a Golden Achievement Program (GAP) book highlighting their Chapter’s activities and accomplishments from January 1 – December 31, 2023, and whose book meets the GAP minimum requirements, will be recognized by the NCSBA as a “Golden Achievement Chapter” in 2024. Chapters meeting this threshold will receive a $250 grant from the NCSBA. This is only for accomplishments during 2023, so Chapters, start planning now to take advantage of this opportunity! The GAP Committee is hoping to receive a record number of GAP submissions in 2024. We would love to recognize and reward your Chapter for promoting and supporting NC beekeeping.
Please contact GAP Committee chair Ray Maxwell (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions.
We are always looking for more chapters to participate, so regional directors and Master Beekeepers help us to find these chapters.
