The Golden Achievement Program (GAP) is intended to be special recognition of the efforts of a chapter and its members to advance the practice, science, and community of beekeeping throughout the year. Sharing the accomplishments of our chapters is the key to strengthening our NCSBA organization.
2024 GAP Chapter of the Year!
Congratulations to Onslow County Beekeepers as the GAP Chapters of the Year for 2024!
Each year one NCSBA Chapter is awarded the title of “Golden Achievement Chapter of the Year” and receives a $700 grant from the NCSBA to fund a service project of the Chapter’s choosing. This distinction recognizes NCSBA chapters that have made significant accomplishments in support of North Carolina beekeeping over the past year. Points are given for various chapter activities and accomplishments. Chapters should submit their accomplishments from the past year to the GAP Committee for review by the Spring Conference of each year. A copy of the application is available below.
The Chapter of the Year is awarded prizes consisting of a banner and framed certificate, gift certificates from our sponsors for bee equipment, donated beekeeping items, and $700 in grant funds for an approved project. The winning chapter will also have a position on the GAP committee.
Once you receive GAP Chapter of the Year, you are ineligible to participate for 3 years. Unfortunately, Chapters who received NCSBA GAP Chapter of the Year for 2023 (Beekeepers of Chowan County) are not eligible to participate in the 2025 Chapter of the Year competition for accomplishments in 2024.
All Chapters who submit a Golden Achievement Program (GAP) book highlighting their Chapter’s activities and accomplishments from January 1 – December 31, and whose book meets the GAP minimum requirements, will be recognized by the NCSBA as a “Golden Achievement Chapter” the following year. Chapters meeting this threshold will receive a $250 grant from the NCSBA. This is only for accomplishments during the current year, so Chapters, start planning now to take advantage of this opportunity! We would love to recognize and reward your Chapter for promoting and supporting NC beekeeping.
Please contact GAP Committee chair Ray Maxwell (shelbybeek@gmail.com) with any questions.
We are always looking for more chapters to participate, so regional directors and Master Beekeepers help us to find these chapters.
