Certified Honey Producer Application

The Certified Honey Producer Program promotes the goodness of North Carolina honey with standards for correct labeling and marketing. The "Certified” and “Discover the Goodness” labels assures that the seller is certified by the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association and agrees to abide by the guidelines of the Certified Honey Producer Program and agrees to use the labels to market and sell North Carolina honey or creamed honey made with only North Carolina honey.
  • Please read before continuing
New applicants should arrange their beekeeper reference endorsement BEFORE submitting out this application. Renewal applicants do not need a new reference endorsement. A Beekeeper Reference Endorsement for every new member of the Certified Honey Producer Program (CHPP) is a critical layer of integrity upon which the program depends. Choose your beekeeper reference wisely to prevent long delays and maybe even denial of your membership application. Applicants should personally contact their chosen reference prior to listing their name on this application form to: A) Confirm their eligibility to be a CHPP reference; B) Get their phone number, email address, and NCSBA membership number; and, C) Get their permission and willingness to endorse you. Beekeeper references must be current members in good standing of NCSBA, personally familiar with the applicant and their beekeeping practices, and willing to speak favorably for the applicant. In addition, eligible CHPP references must also meet one or more of the following requirements:
    1. Be a current member in good standing of the CHPP.
    2. Be a NCSBA Master or Master Craftsman Beekeeper.
    3. Be a current member of the NCSBA Executive Board.
    4. Past or present NCSBA Chapter club officer (President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer).
References who fail to respond to the automatic email reference request, respond unfavorably, or are not eligible to be CHPP references in the first place, may be ignored by the CHPP administrators; therefore it is the sole responsibility of the applicant to choose their reference carefully. Applicants may choose to submit a new reference if their first choice proves to be unsuitable; to do so, have your new reference submit the Certified Honey Reference form.
  • In order to participate in the program you must be a NCSBA member in good standing. Your membership number can be found on your membership card. You may also request your member number using your email address.
  • Apiary Info

  • Example: John Smith, Sweet Jane's Honey, ACME Honey Company, etc.
  • This can be approximate if the exact number is not known.
  • List the county where your hives are located. If there are multiple counties, separate them with a comma.
  • Reference Endorsement

    • Officer or member of the Executive Board of the NCSBA

Please seek their approval to be your reference prior to submitting your application.
