Outreach

Outreach

The North Carolina State Beekeepers Association has many opportunities for public engagement, both for beekeepers wishing to further beekeeping and for the public wanting beekeeping information.

Do you need a beekeeper? A lot of beekeepers?

Is your house covered in bees? Your local chapter can help with swarm removal.
Public engagement is a core mission of the NCSBA and required for the Master Beekeeper Program. If you are in need of a speaker or a public presentation, need material for publication, have a project involving bees and would like some expertise, or would like a swarm removed, you have two options. Your local chapter is the best place to start, since they will be in your area and know the local resources. Or you may contact the NCSBA directly, and we can direct you appropriately.

Are you a beekeeper that wants to get involved?

Most local chapters have an education or public engagement coordinator that can tell you about speaking and outreach opportunities in your area. Many also operate swarm patrols, which let you help your neighbors AND get free bees.

Volunteer opportunities may appear on the calendar.

The NCSBA itself also uses volunteers and donations. These include working at the North Carolina State Fair, serving as administration for the organization, and providing funding and oversight for statewide programs. Some outreach programs are supported through a combination of donation and member fees.
