The Master Beekeeper Program Chapter of Distinction award is intended to
provide special recognition for the educational efforts of the three top
chapters of the NCSBA who have been actively involved in the education
of beekeepers. These three chapters will receive a check for $500.00
and a certificate.
In order to be considered for the award, chapters must offer a certified level course of instruction. The course must be taught by the chapter and must include the written certified test and the practical examination. Points are garnered for administering a certified level course of instruction, administering the practical examination for certification, and mentoring of new beekeepers along the way.
Education should continue once beekeepers reach the Certified level.
Points are garnered for administering a journeyman level course of instruction as well, and for the chapter’s members who take and pass a journeyman or master beekeeper test and completed the requirements for that level in the MBP.
Since public service is a major part of the requirements to advance in the program, points are garnered for the outreach efforts of the chapter in the education of the public thru outreach efforts.
Additional points can be garnered along the way for chapter members who get involved in teaching courses at neighboring chapters. Chapters of the NCSBA are encouraged to participate in the Master Beekeeper Program Chapter of Distinction award, the application can be found here.
Chapters that receive the Master Beekeeper Program Chapter of the Year Award are ineligible to apply again for 3 years.
