Beekeeping throughout the year is a variable process.  

Piedmont North Carolina Beekeeping Calendar

Fitting annual apiary duties with the rest of your life can be tricky.  NC State Apiary Inspector Nancy Ruppert has given us a helpful list of what can be expected throughout the year for beekeepers in the Piedmont. Those outside of central North Carolina will need to adjust for local conditions.

Orange County Introduction to Beekeeping

Orange County Introduction to Beekeeping

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

January 18-March 22, 2022. Tuesdays, 7 - 9 pm.
10 weeks plus 1 workshop and 1 field day
$75 per individual, $125 per couple/family at same address

Zoom and also Orange County Agricultural Extension Office (i.e. both virtual and in person, your choice)

Class includes 10 weeks of instruction by credentialed experts in their fields, one hands-on equipment assembly workshop and one inside-the-hive, hug-a-bee apiary field day. Bee school graduates have the opportunity to take the NCSBA Certified Beekeeper written exam. They may also participate in a First-Year Beekeeper Cluster mentoring group to reinforce skills and knowledge gained in the classroom. Zoom or in-person option is your choice for class sessions.
