Beginning Beekeeping Short Course

When: Saturday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Registration begins at 8:00 AM)
Where: Southwestern Community College
60 Almond School Rd., Bryson City, NC 28713
Cost: $25.00 per person, $20.00 if preregistered by April 1. Please send checks made out to Smoky Mountain Beekeepers to Betty Hartsell, 125 Gassaway Rd, Bryson City, NC 28713. Additional family members add $5.00 each. Club members pay only $5.00.

Additional Information: This is a one day course directed at the new or beginning
beekeeper. Long time beekeeper and Macon County bee school presenter, Tom Hill, will
head the program. A follow up day at a bee yard is planned with the date to be
announced at the school. Lunch is provided along with snacks. Door prizes including a
complete hive without bees will given out. Topics of bee biology, architecture of the
modern hive, management techniques and pests and diseases are among the subjects.
This course will be a good review for all beekeepers as well.
